From the outset, we identified WordPress as the most suitable platform due to its flexibility and ease of use for the SDF team. To deliver the eLearning functionality, we recommended LearnDash as the best in class solution. However, the use of SCORM content presented a technical challenge, as LearnDash does not natively support this format. A significant part of the early development focused on creating custom integrations to host and display SCORM content within LearnDash courses, ensuring a seamless user experience. For facilitator-led training, including in-person and virtual events, we implemented The Events Calendar, aligning with the setup already in use on sdf.org.uk. With the core systems in place, we worked closely with SDF over several months to build, import and optimise the full learning centre.

As the project progressed, we also developed a bespoke WordPress plugin to provide a custom analytics dashboard for facilitator-led courses. This allows the client to track bookings, attendance, organisation types such as NHS and Police Scotland, and other tailored data points.
